CAM Mash Up: This Week (Nov 4 - 10)

Posted by Meigan Montoya on November 5, 2018

Last week was busy, you probably kept up more with actual politics than industry articles. If that's the case, here's all the news and info you might have missed this week in Community Association Management with this week's CAM Mashup!

From Problem Spotting...

Disengaged community members are probably the most common problem of any community association, period. Finding new and exciting ways to engage them is like finding new and exciting ways to engage a toddler on a sugar rush: nearly impossible. JD Supra has a few ways condo (and home) owners can spot these problems for themselves

But sometimes a problem isn't really a problem, it's a problem that comes with it's own built-in solution--like when someone accidentally starts a fun community rooftop garden. Eco-friendly, tasty, and a great way to engage homeowners in a positive way! Problem Solving!

"From rowdy neighbors to malfunctioning utilities, every community faces problems at one time or another. However, living in an Association comes with its own set of unique issues." This is just a fact of life. But identifying those common problems is the first actionable step of implementing a solution.

Then again, wouldn't it be great if we could solve a problem by avoiding it altogether? That's actually a great plan to implement in any community. Proactive action is a great way to identify any avoidable conflict, and then well, avoid it! See how strategic choices can have positive impacts on community cohesion.

Similarly, setting your homeowners up for success is a great problem-avoiding tactic. Getting homeowners involved and empowered is one of the strongest components of a well-equipped problem solving process!

Bonus Round: Personal Improvement

If you're local to the Tampa, FL area, check out Schumaker, Loop & Kendrick's Board of Director's training going on later this month! Few things are better for addressing problems than a well-trained board member. Registration closes Thurs. Nov. 8th, so act fast!
