We've got a lot to catch up on. This is the first CAM Mashup since Thanksgiving. We took a break for the holiday to do crossword puzzles but we are back on it now!

Now that Thanksgiving is done, it's already time to start thinking about year end... not just the holidays, but all the other festivities too - snow removal, printing coupons, holiday package delivery filling up the condo lobby. Yeah, we know you just love it. So this week we are bringing you some tips to help you prepare! Learn more in this week's CAM Mashup!

As an educated member of the Community Association Management industry, you already know how crucial it is to stay informed and up-to-date on the latest news, trends and happenings within the industry. Each week, we bring together our favorite reads of the week and share them with you! Enjoy the CAM Mashup and please share it too!

What is CAMfire?!

“You may be thinking to yourself 'CAMfire sounds like an incredible event, but what exactly is it?' - well, look no further, my friend! This infographic will show you all the details of CAMfire, the premiere Community Association Management event.” Prepare yourself for over 50 classes, 4 keynote presenters, all day massages and morning yoga by the pool! You definitely don’t want to miss this conference! (Click the link above to see the infographic!)

Texting on Autopilot

I know you've been there. Driving along, or in a meeting or resolving an argument between homeowners and an important call comes in to your cell phone. You can't really stop that second and take the call, but you've got to do something. Here's a great idea - set up pre-written autoresponder text messages that you can shoot out instantly and get back to the work at hand.

Cloud Access Over the Holidays

“It’s a busy time of year and there is a lot of time you spend outside of the office. While work piles up, you lose contact with your work and come back to a lot of busy work and news that could’ve been addressed earlier. The cloud has made it incredibly easy to check in on your accounts and receive calls when you are free. Here are the ways the cloud is making time off a little bit easier to handle.”

Snow Removal

This is my third winter that I have been writing the CAM Mash Up and at least the third time I have cited an article that points to snow removal. Being a Florida resident, these articles don’t relate to me and my neighbors specifically, (sorry to rub it in guys) however I know many of you need to think about this matter! So for you my friend, here is your checklist when it comes to snow removal contracts.

Shorter Board Meetings!

I am positive that this is a topic that anyone who has ever attended a board meeting can relate to on some level. Ever wish those meetings were just a little bit (or a lot bit) shorter? I would assume that was a resounding ‘YES’!  Find out how one association was able to cut their three hour meetings nearly in half!

Proxy Problems

What happens if proxy is given to a board member but they fail to use it in an election? It could lead to failure to make quorum or worse, a rigged election. Both these problems happened this year in some communities. Learn the legalities of proxy voting here.

Coupon Cutters

It's that time of year. The annual meeting is over, the budget's been approved, and you've got to get out coupon books to homeowners in time for their first assessment payments due Jan 1. But there can be some push back on that from communities who don't want to pay for coupon books ('Why can't my neighbors just pay online??') Here's an idea that can help alleviate the pain - add advertisements for local businesses to your coupon books! The businesses will welcome the exposure and the board will love the lower costs!

Holiday Package Delivery

With the huge adoption of online retailers such as Amazon, package delivery in HOAs (particularly condo associations) is a major topic, especially around the holidays. Your residents expect you to have a system in place to handle the influx of deliveries especially in apartment complexes. Is your community prepared to handle the dramatic increase of packages this season?

TOPS [ONE] Preview

This week we have a very special treat for you! On Thursday, December 10th, TOPS President Mike Hardy is going to be giving a deep dive preview of the new accounting platform from TOPS Software, TOPS [ONE]. This product is scheduled to be released in February at the CAMfire Conference, so this is your chance to experience it before anyone else does. Don't miss out!
