How to Get Through Things You Hate

"Have you ever had something on your to-do list that you just really didn’t want to do? If your answer is “yes,” it’s OK. Because I’ve definitely had those moments ... But here’s the thing. I have to do them. I can’t just keep pretending they don’t exist. And I’m betting that you can’t do that, either. So, I’m here to save your day. Whenever I have to do something that I really, really, don’t want to, I repeat these two mantras."

Adding "No" to Your Strategy

You can't be afraid to say "no" every once in a while. Saying "yes" gives instant gratification to the asker, but leaves you with a plate that's overflowing, half-baked projects being left to sit and fail, and a lot more that fall through the cracks.

"Borrowing a morsel of wisdom from HP co-founder David Packard, she [warns] that “more companies die of indigestion than starvation.”" Don't overindulge. Here are three practices to put balance into a yes-no diet.

Go Into Your Next Board Meeting With a Plan

"It’s a new year, and that means a new round of board meetings.  Since the Davis-Stirling act requires that HOA board meetings take place, you might as well take part in achieving the best and most successful meeting possible.

HOA board meetings are a golden opportunity for community members to know the issues that impact one of their most treasured investments…their home.  The following six tips for meetings can help."

Have a Game Plan for Handling Common Complaints

"It’s important to remember that board members aren’t exempt from the community’s rules. Once a line is crossed, the board is likely to receive HOA complaints from residents regarding the issue.

IKO Community Management details the top three most common complaints and how to handle them."
