This week in community association management

Fire resistant Shrubs

This has to be the best article I have read all week! One Californian homeowner’s association made the brilliant decision to plant fire-resistant shrubs in their community. These fantastic plants singlehandedly delayed the spread of flames to allow the firefighters time to contain the blaze. Why aren’t more association aware of these amazing plants?

Going Self-Managed

Is your association ready to go self-managed? There are a ton of questions you should ask yourself before making this major decision. Here, you can find a few key questions to ask yourself before your association takes the leap! Good luck to you!

The key? Communication.

This is a topic I have touched on before in the Mash-Up. Communication is still key when it comes to keeping your homeowners happy, well-informed and living with a sense of belonging. So, begin by surveying your community to find out how people would like their news delivered to them!

Pay up!

One of the more sticky situations board members face is the dreaded task of getting your neighbors and sometimes friends, to pay up on their dues. However, there is of course a right way and a wrong way to go about this. Make sure you’re avoiding the latter route by taking these simple measures.

Gen-Why?

I’ve got to say, my generation seems to get a bad reputation in today’s work place. However, I am here to tell you, we are not all lazy, distracted, and entitled brats. I actually would like to think that some of us are actually very hard working and driven! Here is why you should consider giving one of us millennials a chance!

Pet Policies

When considering making changes to your association’s pet policy, you can expect some strong opinions to fly your direction. Many people regard their pets as members of the family (me included). So, if you’re looking to make revisions, be sure your new policy will hold up in court.

Get Fired Up!

This week, TOPS president Mike Hardy announced a new industry event that's bound to be 'THE' place to be this year! The CAMfire Conference will bring together TOPS users and other CAM professionals in an event that transcends the typical user conference experience. Are you ready to get fired up?
