Student Housing

"If there’s one word that sums up the current state of the student housing industry, it’s growth. With an average of 48,000 off-campus purpose-built beds delivered per year, the industry is predicted to grow at a healthy and sustainable pace. Opportunities are popping up across America to invest in Student, and there’s no end in sight." Let's take a deeper look.

Information Silos

What exactly are Information Silos? "Any time important community information is isolated from your central data storage, you create information silos. So the printed files in your filing cabinets, all those spreadsheets you manage, your accounting software, your website, and even the information that lives only inside your head - each is an isolated silo. When information is isolated like this, your business suffers. Whether it's lost worker time like the scenario above, miscommunication errors (like your receptionist not knowing what the manager promised in a phone call), or lost money due to duplication of efforts between your systems." Now that we have defined them, let's dive into some solutions to avoiding these time suckers.

Refocusing After Being Distracted

This article was actually quite shocking to me. I work in a busy office. There are constantly people stopping by my desk for questions, work conversations or just a casual chat. But did you know that on average it takes about 23 minutes to refocus on the task you were working on after being distracted? Think of how much time is being thrown out the window because of these distractions? Mind. Blown.

Cloud-Based Technology

"New technologies offer ambitious professionals the chance to advance their careers, and their firms, to new heights. They can be especially beneficial to women and, indeed, any CPAs who want to set themselves apart professionally and preserve a healthy balance between their work and personal lives. In my own experience, I’ve used my cloud technology knowledge to expand my opportunities, accelerate my progress, boost my worth to clients and reinforce my relationships with them. How does the cloud enhance opportunities for CPAs?"

How to Attract Young Professionals

"Let's face it, this industry is aging. While the average age of an American worker today in any industry is 43 years old, the average age of a property manager is 50.1 and the average age of a CPM is 52.3 years old. As if that weren’t enough, Baby Boomers are retiring at the rate of 8,000 to 10,000 a day. The result is a dwindling, aging crop of management professionals." The future of the industry is relying on the ability to recruit a younger generation into the field. Find out here how to do so!
