To File or Not?

What happens if you don't file your tax forms this year? "Filing 1099-MISC forms is vital for any business, and attention to detail is key, as penalties for failure to file or filing inaccurate information have increased in recent years. There are also penalties in place for businesses who do not file W-2s and 1099s on time or who do not furnish correct payee statements." Learn what you MUST do here!

Don't Be a Scrooge!

"No matter what holidays their residents celebrate, many HOAs use the end of the year holidaypalooza as an opportunity to hold an event to foster a stronger sense of community." See what HOALeader.com has to say about the benefits of embracing the holiday spirit!

The Importance of Financial Management

"Many HOA boards like to stick with tradition due to the round robin of volunteers and elected members every year. This means that it can take a huge mistake to shake up the routine, and many hope that it doesn’t hit where it really hurts: Financial management.

Here’s how to tell if your homeowners association needs to improve their financial situation before it’s too late."

Hiring the Right People

"A recent survey from CareerBuilder suggests that it can cost employers thousands of dollars to make up for an employee who isn’t a good fit. Observers suggest that the problem might be with the person doing the hiring as much as the employee.

We all want to make sure we hire the right person, but sometimes that doesn’t happen...And when an organization gets that wrong, it can get costly—very costly."

The End of Net Neutrality

The FCC voted on Dec. 14th to undo standing Net Neutrality regulations. Net Neutrality is what guarantees all data on the internet is treated equally, regardless of where it comes from, who created it, or who is accessing it. Without Net Neutrality, ISPs are gifted unrestricted power to change the way we access our information. Here is what that can mean for you as a manager, as a community, and as a citizen.

Foreclosures and You (and Your HOA)

"Foreclosure is a bit of a dirty word. Nobody wants to see anyone thrown out of their home - but it happens.

There are basically two different kinds of foreclosure homeowners association need to worry about: Foreclosure by the bank and foreclosure by the association itself."

Here's what a Foreclosure can mean for your HOA.

Driving Technology Adoption

What drives technology adoption in community associations? Not homeowners, according to a new article on Better Condo Life, featuring our own Andrea Drennen. Learn why communities are slow to adopt, and what you can do about it.
