So much to do and so little time! The year is coming to a close again (always so soon!) and if you're like me, you probably have a laundry list of tasks you fully intended to accomplish that just fell through the cracks. There just aren't enough hours in the...well the year. But, we can still do some great things! From bettering yourself as a coworker, to nailing your elevator pitch, there's still time to make the most out of the year. All this, and more, on this weeks CAM Mashup!

As an educated member of the Community Association Management industry, you already know how crucial it is to stay informed and up-to-date on the latest news, trends and happenings within the industry. Each week, we bring together our favorite reads of the week and share them with you! Enjoy the CAM Mash Up and please share it too!

Building Up Value

"Well-kempt amenities can raise the property value of your neighborhood and its homes. They’re also a great selling point for potential residents and help maintain a positive, healthy atmosphere between homeowners.

IKO Community Management talks about how to maintain the top four amenities in your HOA community," from community pools to community clubhouses and plenty in between. Read more here!

Don't Be That Guy

"Let’s talk about those colleagues. Do you know the type I’m talking about? The ones who have a knack for climbing up on their high horses while making you feel oh-so-small and unimportant?

Nobody likes that condescending team member. But, take a minute to think about this: What if you’re coming off as that patronizing person in your office? Even worse, what if—gasp!—you don’t even realize you’re doing it?"

Show Them What You Can Do

"Whether you reached out to them, or the community came to you looking for new management, you've managed to score a meeting to make your presentation to the board. Now it's time to prepare your pitch.

A pitch deck is a sales presentation (in Powerpoint, Prezi, Sway, or even a printed brochure) in which you present the selling points of your company, and explain why the board should choose you to manage their community association over your competitors." Read more about the importance of pitch decks here, and check out our newest free download, the Management Company Pitch Deck Template!

Oh, the Weather Outside...

"Everyone loves the turning of the seasons, what with leaves changing and snow falling and pools opening and the like. But Mother Nature has little concern for the comfort of humans, so fluctuating temperatures bring the need for residential heating and cooling.

In condominiums, cooperatives and homeowners associations, residential heating and cooling (HVAC for short) can be major, both in terms of financial cost and energy expenditure; to keep those under control, it would behoove any association board to stay on top of the latest trends and innovations in HVAC, and make sure their own equipment and systems are up-to-date and well-maintained."

Making the Grade

"The end of the year often brings one of many challenges for Condo Association Boards, which is Condo Association employee annual reviews.  Your involvement in this process will depend on your community ... No matter what your situation, you must ensure that you are being consistent and effective with your Condo Association employee annual reviews."
