This week in community management: Need a gift idea for CAI's 40th BIRTHDAY? Don't STRESS out or consider BREAKING UP over it! We have gift ideas that would satisfy even the most BORED GADFLY! How about a CONDO-DWELLER'S BEST FRIEND? Or if your budget is lower, perhaps some VENDOR ALPHABET SOUP? As an educated member of the Community Association Management industry, you already know how crucial it is to stay informed and up-to-date on the latest news, trends and happenings within the industry. Each week, we bring together our favorite reads of the week and share them with you! Enjoy the CAM Mash Up and feel free to share it too!

Stress: Friend or Foe?

As with most things in life, perception is everything. We have always been told that stress is bad for us. But what if we could just change our perception of stress? Instead of telling ourselves that stress is bad for our health, let’s try convincing ourselves that the symptoms of stress are actually preparing us for the challenge that lies ahead! This amazing TED talk may just save your life!

The Bored Gadfly

Everyone knows that being a community manager is a very difficult job. You must be able to patiently deal with people from all different backgrounds, personalities and temperaments! Julie Adamen teaches the newest of property managers some techniques of how to deal with even the most difficult of breeds.

Breaking Up

We’ve all been there…the ceremonial returning of belongings after a relationship has ended. Occasionally, you’ll come across an ex-partner who isn’t as willing to part with their former other half’s belongings. The same thing can occur with association records and property with an uncooperative outgoing community association director. Donna DiMaggio Berger of Community Advocacy Network is working to get a law into effect to close this loophole.

Vendor Request Alphabet Soup

We all know that an RFP is a Request for Proposal, but what is an RFI, RFQ or SOW? This discussion on CAi's LinkedIn forum offers a great breakdown of this vendor request alphabet soup.

Happy Birthday CAI!

Have you taken the opportunity to wish CAI a happy birthday? Head on over to their facebook page and tell them congratulations and thank you for 40 years of representing community associations!

A Condo-Dweller’s Best Friend

Here's one for you to share! So, you live in a teeny-tiny apartment with barely enough room for your oversized sofa, but you would just love to have a K-9 companion. Should you go for the compact Beagle or the beastly Great Dane? The answer may surprise you! This informative article breaks down the ins and outs of the best dog breeds for condo living! Warning, if you like pictures of cute dogs (and who doesn't?) this post will make you go awwwwww!

TOPS User Conference-Las Vegas!
